July 25 Waking up on Sunday morning at 3:25 certainly gives one time to think and be thankful that Bonnie didn't pay us a visit. Spent the night at the beach and woke up early to watch the gentle surf rolling in. Just now thought about how strange that I've very seldom painted our beach. Maybe it so beautiful that would never be able to do it justice or the fact that it is constantly changing.
For so long my paintings have been about the world. I have painted the exotic far away places that have so engaged my imagination that I've neglected to see what is at my own back door. At this age and stage in my life I have begun to look inward and to my past for inspiration.
Seeds have been planted for a totally different direction in my work. Exploring who I am and the legacy I want to leave will be my new goal for this year.
So much for the ravings of an insomniac.

This is my first attempt at blogging so bear with me. Yesterday I worked to complete three figure paintings from "Go Figure" (the drawing group that meets on Tues) It was good to get back to my favorite passion-painting the figure.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to JUST PAINT instead of worrying about the everyday nitty gritty and the bad news of oil rings on our big bath tub, the Gulf Mexico. Very distressing. It is like the aftermath of a hurricane but never ending.Enough of the doom and gloom.
Forget the BLACK Do a painting with purple ,orange, and lime green. Don't get stuck in a rut. Take a piece of unstretched canvas ,pour 3 colors on the canvas then fold canvas(without making a hard crease) See what you have and let it guide you. Have a good time. Don't worry,Be Happy. Let me see if I can put pictures on this blog.

All the "Go Figure" group had a great day! I would like to attribute that to the two beautiful models! My daughter Shawna modeled and so did my 7 year old granddaughter Shayla. Haven't photographed my two 30" x 40" starts yet . Would like to put those on the blog so I can show my progress. maybe next time. Thanks to my Texas friend Cheryl I figured out how to get back to the blog to add or edit.
Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July. Enjoy the fireworks.
By the way my retrospective will be hanging at Pensacola State College(formerly PJC) through July 22 at the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual arts Gallery.
